We like to keep it casual in Humboldt. Denim in all shades is playing a major role in the fashion picture this spring, making the clothes we already love to wear officially stylish.

One of our favorite stops is Indigo Denim Bar in Garberville. Owner Annie Bignon started out with her children's clothing store Li'l Sproutz Boutique and brought in the Joe's Jeans line a few years later for her mom shoppers.

Since then, Bignon's expanded, partnered with sister-in-law Nina Chadwick and beefed up her inventory for one of the largest selections of premium denim in the county. Along with Joe's Jeans, you can shimmy into brands like Hudson, Paige, 7 For All Mankind, Citizens of Humanity and AG. Need a top to go with? Michael Stars, Velvet, and Young, Fabulous & Broke are on hand, as are jewelry by Marit Rae and Rose Gonzalez, and handcrafted Shwood sunglasses.

Kids' sizes of some of the same brands are over in the Li'l Sproutz shop as well as soft, free-moving Kickee Pants, the globally inspired Tea Collection and board sports style from Volcom. Children's toys, books and sunglasses round out the kid's section, and there's always a sale rack.
