Tolowa Dunes Work Day

Redwood Parks Conservancy invites the public to join the Tolowa Dunes Stewards for beach grass pulling and dunes habitat restoration at Del Norte County’s biggest living, moving sand dune located in Tolowa Dunes State Park. Pulling out invasive European beach grass is a moderate activity. Participants should wear sturdy shoes for walking in sand and dress in layers; bring a hat, water and personal snacks. (We provide gloves, light shovels and snacks.) A 1-mile walk from the trailhead leads to the Big Dune through pine forests and coastal meadows. Volunteers will learn about the rare plants that thrive in the moving dune environment. Meet at the information center. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, you must RSVP to [email protected] by the Wednesday before the event.
