Thundercat

Thundercat is the alter ego of the virtuosic bassist, singer, and band leader Stephen Bruner. The South Los Angeles native is drawing accolades for his recent outstanding contributions to jazz saxophonist Kamasi Washington’s landmark CD The Epic, and hip hop superstar Kendrick Lamar’s To Pimp A Butterfly. With his own ensemble, this mad genius of the low-end draws on a slew of influences veering from driving Parliament/Funkadelic-like grooves to smoldering, smoothed-out jazz/soul.
