The North Group Sierra Club is hosting a welcome party for new and continuing members complete with live music, barbecuing and the opportunity to get to know fellow local members of the nation's oldest and largest environmental organization. The event will take place on Wednesday, June 13 from 7 until 9 PM at the Humboldt Bay Social Club, 900 New Navy Base Road in Samoa. This fabulous location on the Samoa Peninsula includes fire pits and a clubroom with a no-host bar.
Local oysters and other goodies will be available for purchase and can be roasted on the available barbecues. Music will be provided by Tyger Byle, a popular local string/country/bluegrass band. Members are encouraged to come and to bring a friend, to meet other local members and enjoy the start of summer!
The North Group is actively engaged in local environmental issues including climate adaptation, conditions impacting salmon, Klamath River flows and water quality, and pesticide use affecting agricultural workers and the Smith River Estuary.
Non-members interested in checking out the nation's only democratically governed major environmental organization, or who want to meet North Group members, should contact Gregg Gold, [email protected], 707-826-3740.
