The Gestation Project

"The Gestation Project" is a nine-month cohort of artists who met to collaborate on making works about foregoing parenthood in light of climate change. The group was sponsored by the Ink People Center for the Arts FAR grant. The cohort has gestated on the subject via Zoom for nine months, and would like to expand the discussion to the community level with a temporary exhibition at Jefferson Community Center. Artists will be gallery sitting both weekends to discuss their work, and to engage viewers through the different media and the varying perspectives of the artists. The full schedule of artists, and examples of their work, can be found at the Instagram page @the_gestation_project. The exhibit includes guest artists who were not part of the core cohort, but with whom the cohort is excited to share this space and conversation with. The exhibit will open at the Jefferson Community Center on weekends from September 4 through September 12, from noon. to 5 p.m., on display in the Aikido Room at the end of the south hall to the left of the main entrance. The Jefferson Center is ADA accessible and guests will be limited to 10 at a time. The large and spacious room will be ventilated with many open windows during visiting hours.
