Heads up, Humboldt:
While the county's masking mandate has been lifted, Public Health is still strongly recommending masking indoors in public, social distancing and "avoiding crowds and poorly ventilated spaces."
COVID-19 is still with us, so be sure to check the protocols at event venues.
Populations of Greater Sage-Grouse in North America have been declining across the West with distribution reduced by about 50% since European settlement. In the spring, sage-grouse males dance and display at sites called leks in an attempt to attract females. If sage-grouse are to survive, their lek sites, nesting sites, wintering sites, and the landscape connections between them need to remain intact. Beth Fitzpatrick is an ornithologist and spatial ecologist and PhD candidate at the University of Wyoming who recently taught at Humboldt State University. Beth will talk about her work in identifying areas important to the Greater Sage-Grouse. http://rras.org/home.aspx
