Heads up, Humboldt:
While the county's masking mandate has been lifted, Public Health is still strongly recommending masking indoors in public, social distancing and "avoiding crowds and poorly ventilated spaces." COVID-19 is still with us, so be sure to check the protocols at event venues.

Luna Then and Now with Stuart Moskowitz

When: Thu., Aug. 22, 7-8 p.m. 2019
Phone: 707-822-5954
Price: Free
Luna is an ancient redwood that rises 200 feet above the Eel River in southern Humboldt. Stuart Moskowitz, of Sanctuary Forest (a land and water trust), takes care of her. From 1997 to 1999, Julia Butterfly Hill sat atop Luna to prevent the cutting of this 1000 year-old tree and to attract the world's attention to the necessity of protecting and restoring natural resources. Julia came down when Pacific Lumber Company promised to protect Luna with a conservation easement. Stuart will talk about Luna then, how she was attacked less than a year later, and how Luna is today.
