Laura Mahan Day

Meet at the Founders Grove or at mile marker 20.29 on the Avenue of the Giants between 12 -3 PM to take a leisurely walk through the Mahan Plaque Grove (easy flat trail) and learn about Laura Mahan (1869-1937) from one of the onsite naturalists. Laura was awarded (posthumously) Assembly District 1's Woman of the Year for 2022 for her tireless advocacy to save the redwoods--even before women had the right to vote! Bring the whole family and learn about our county's most-famous "shero."
