Russ is a field biologist from Lincoln City, Oregon. He graduated from Pacific University, and has worked searching for nesting Northern Goshawks in the Okanogan National Forest in Washington. Russ is a pelagic bird guide and holds the Oregon Big Year record of 381 species.
