An evening of Chopin and Shakespeare. The featured work is Chopin’s Piano Concerto No. 2, with pianist Robert
Satterlee. A former HSU faculty member, Satterlee returns to the Humboldt County concert
stage after a more than 20-year absence. P.I. Tchaikovsky’s rapturous symphonic poem Romeo
& Juliet continues the romance theme. Adding to the musical passion is Nino Rota’s
interpretation of the Shakespeare work in the score for Franco Zeffirelli’s film and excerpts from
Leonard Bernstein’s remarkable version, West Side Story.
