Halouksh Tales are two shadow plays created during Dell’Arte’s multi-year collaboration with the Wiyot Tribe’s youth program, Tsek Houdaqh. The Stolen Salmon is a traditional Wiyot story, and Grandma and Dalila describes the process of gathering materials to make a basket cap. The puppets and narration were created by the children in Tsek Houdaqh, with additional voice-acting provided by tribal members. Both plays were generated in workshops with Tsek Houdaqh, led by Dell’Arte artists James Hildebrandt, Zuzka Sabata, and Pratik Motwani, and incorporate Wiyot language learning.
