Heads up, Humboldt:
While the county's masking mandate has been lifted, Public Health is still strongly recommending masking indoors in public, social distancing and "avoiding crowds and poorly ventilated spaces."
COVID-19 is still with us, so be sure to check the protocols at event venues.
The California Native Plant Society (CNPS) invites the public to "Conifers of
the Klamath Mountains: 2018 field updates." For over 15 years, educator, author, and ecologist Michael Kauffmann has been
tracking the ecology and distribution of Klamath Mountain conifers. His book,
Conifer Country, is the definitive field guide to the region. He has been
working with CNPS and with the Klamath, Six Rivers, and Modoc National Forests
to map and inventory the rare and threatened conifers of northern California.
Michael's program will cover the region, from mountain summits to coastal river
valleys, and will provide updates on the status and distribution of many of
these charismatic trees.
Doors open at 7:00 p.m. for snacks, sales, and socializing. The North
Coast Chapter of CNPS offers free public programs on the second Wednesday of
each month, September through May. 707-822-2015, www.northcoastcnps.org.
