A program of 17th century baroque music beginning in heavenly spheres, descending gradually to more infernal regions. Our road takes us from a Catalonia through Italy, Spain, New Spain, and the courts of Louis XV of France and Queen Elizabeth I of England; from the medieval through the high baroque and back to the 17th century; from the praises of Mary, through courtly dances and entertainments, to the gates of Hades itself. Monteverdi, Gesualdo, Falconieri, Juana de la Cruz, Ignatio Donati, and everyone's favorite, Anonymous! The ABC is a dynamic bay area group known for their cheerful and historically informed presentations of seriously beautiful music.
